Welcome to our web site, my name is Joseph J. Prokop. The company name "Joe Pro" is from a nickname in high school, which later became my commitment to professional services and quality construction.
Many years ago, after graduation, I began in the construction world with an older gentleman at Morris Home Improvements. He had contracts to install storm windows (they don't even do that anymore), storm doors, awnings, porch enclosures and aluminum replacement windows (they also don't do them anymore). Seven bucks an hour I think was my rate - I was grateful !
A few years after apprenticing in the world of windows and door, I moved on to roofing and did that locally for 2 years. Wishing to continue learning the trades, I then tackled siding and insulation. With a focus on demanding customers on the Main Line, I apprenticed for 5 years.
Shortly after, I married the Secretary from Surfa-Shield (no longer in business after 60 years), and went into business with my Father-in-law, the carpenter/builder Son-in-law of John Beccia (custom builder on the Main Line since the 1930's, and Beccia Real Estate). My focus was on custom additions for 4 years.
Taking with me 2 decades of craftsmanship, I went on my own to do windows, doors, alterations and additions. In 1998 I took on a partner and built a set of twins on Berry Avenue, and a single on Shadeland in Drexel Hill. In 2000 my son Joe came on board and we started building Spec Homes. Two on Pearson Lane in Havertown, and three Semi-Custom homes on Bon Air.
Along with additions and other projects, with my Son and myself and various other talents - our team always puts 200% into a job, addition or complete home. We are proud of our accomplishments and plan to keep delivering the best in service for many years to come. We keep pick-up, dump trucks and backhoes available, and in top shape to serve our customers.
